Diabetes and Eye Disease(Diabetic Retinopathy)

Diabetes is a leading cause of preventable blindness in the world. Here’s what diabetes does to your eye(Retina) over time.

I don’t think I have to tell which picture shows the diabetic retina(back of your eye)! One is pristine and the other is ravaged by diabetes. You need to have had retinal screening ideally every 1-2 years.

How do we treat it?
Advanced Diabetic Eye disease is usually treated with Laser Treatment and its a vital treatment against blindness due to Diabetes Eye Disease. Following is a picture laser-treated Retina.  Areas of laser treatment can be seen as white dots.
